Youth

We believe youth are a vital part of the church, now.

LEADERS OF TODAY & TOMORROW

They don’t have to wait until they grow up to lead. We give youth the opportunities to use their voices in leading worship. Art is important at Hamilton Square, and we develop youth to help them express their faith through art.

We encourage youth to volunteer in church activities from special events and various ministry areas- not just outside service projects. Youth often don’t have money they can give, but they can give and invest their time.

Events

Youth Group meets about twice a month on Sundays from 12:30-2 p.m. Youth Group happens in the youth space. This group is led by graduates of the youth program. Friends are always welcome!
In the summer, we meet weekly for Burger and a Bible in various homes. This is an informal time where we listen to a devotion and have a summer picnic.

We have several special youth events throughout the year including:

    • Halloween and Christmas parties
    • Mission Trip
    • Service projects

Our yearly mission trip is the main Youth activity. This week-long trip happens every summer and is open to rising 9th graders-rising college freshmen. We think of this trip as a “service retreat.” We serve and we grow. We connect with new communities and with people within in the group.

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation happens every other year and is open to youth who are 8th/9th grades. This is a yearlong class that meets in a cohort. Each youth has a mentor. We learn, we go on retreats, and we complete the class with a faith expression project. Then, the confirmands are presented to Session. They join the church and are confirmed on Confirmation Sunday.
